Serving Street Children & Rohingya Refugees

In Bangladesh Since 2019

Bangladesh is home to approximately 1.6 million Rohingya Refugees, living in some of the largest Refugee camps in the world. Bangladesh is also one of the poorest countries on the earth, with over 31% of its population living below the poverty line, with limited access to any type of education.

One of the most important missions of SMF is to create locally-based, locally-run music programs. We have been asked to partner with two Bangladeshi Organizations — Dhaka-based AMAL FOUNDATION and Cox’s Bazar-based CHRDF (COX’S BAZAR HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION) to provide both Rohingya Refugees and Bangladeshi children with locally-based and taught SMF Music Programs.

SMF recently spent one month training volunteer teachers from AMAL Foundation. Training includes teaching classes at a Rohingya Refugee Camp, SHISU DER JONNO AMRA ORPHANAGE, and HASHI MUKH SCHOOL.
